Volunteers & Interns
The Applications to Volunteer and Intern with Horizons’ 2019 Summer Program will be open between January 15 and February 28, 2019. Horizons accepts both high school and college-aged volunteers. See the timeline below for Intern and Volunteer Application deadlines and requirements.
Fill out the Volunteer Application
- January 15 - February 28: Volunteer and Intern applications are open
- March - April: Volunteers / Interns will receive an email acceptance for the 2019 Program
- May 11 - 12: Accepted Volunteer / Intern Training at DCD (attendance is mandatory)
- June 1: Super Saturday Testing (attendance is mandatory)
- June 27 - August 7: 2019 Horizons’ Summer Program duration
- Session 1: June 27 - July 19
- Session 2: July 22 - August 7
Volunteer Eligibility
- Horizons volunteers must have completed grade 8.
- All volunteers are required to sign the Code of Conduct.
- Volunteers must be able to commit to volunteer for either Session 1 or Session 2 (or both).
- Volunteers must be available to attend the mandatory training on May 11th and 12th, and must commit to volunteering for our pre-program testing day (Saturday, June 1st).
- Strong applicants demonstrate a commitment to community service and volunteerism.
- Horizons Volunteers must be open to work with students in grades 1 and 5.
Intern Eligibility
- Horizons Summer Interns must have completed grade 11.
- All interns are required to sign the Code of Conduct.
- Interns must be able to commit to the entire 6 weeks of programming.
- Interns must be available to attend the mandatory training on May 11th and 12th, and must commit to volunteering for our pre-program testing day (Saturday, June 1st).
- Strong applicants are organized, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to community service and volunteerism.
- Interns must be open to work with students in grades 6 and 8.
