We are pleased to share that Michelle Tarkulich has taken up residence teaching fourth grade at Dedham Country Day. Michelle was first introduced to DCD as an intern at Horizons in 2013. She quickly fell in love with the students, the program and the DCD community. In 2015, she returned to Horizons as an Assistant Teacher to the Kindergarten class. She recalls that particular summer fondly.
The following year Michelle took a leadership position as the 4th grade Lead teacher, where she enjoyed the challenge of creating her own project-based learning curriculum. This past summer, Michelle stepped into yet another role at Horizons as one of the Lead sixth grade teachers. She trained Horizons teachers on project based learning approaches. We are grateful to have Michelle join another part of our Horizons family at DCD for the school year.
Michelle is thrilled to be a part of DCD. “I have loved getting to know the DCD community over the course of my time at Horizons, and I am thrilled to have joined the DCD faculty full-time. It has been really neat seeing the school from a new lens, and I cannot wait to see what is to come in this new adventure.”
She describes her first few weeks at DCD as exciting and has settled into her new classroom with ease. Connecting with her students as well as the staff, she remarks that the DCD community has welcomed and supported her from day one.
We wish Michelle luck this year and we are looking forward to having her back at Horizons next summer!
